Certification Requirements

CompTIA recommends at least 9 to 12 months of networking experience and two years of experience IT administration with a security focus.

By course completion, you will be fully prepared to sit for the certification exam. According to CompTIAâ„¢, Security+ is the most widely-used preparation to meet the US Department of Defense's DoD 8570 compliance standard.

Hardware Requirements

  • This course can be taken on either a PC, Mac, or Chromebook.
  • Labs included in this program are not supported on mobile devices (i.e., phones and tablets).

Software Requirements

  • PC: Windows 10 or later.
  • Mac: macOS 10.6 or later.
  • Chromebook 113 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox is preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
  • Microsoft Word. To complete your assignments, you may need Microsoft Word 2003 or higher, or an equivalent word-processing program, such as LibreOffice, which is available to download for free.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

  • Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.
  • A reliable high-speed Internet connection

Students are supported by both an assigned instructor and assigned advisor throughout the duration of the course. Students receive contact information for both upon enrollment and all communication is handled via email. Students should allow up to two business days for responses.
